Driving youth to success through strategic professional development,
one generation at a time.

4 Workshops in 4 Weeks

Week 1 - Resume Workshop

Resume building is an essential skill in professional development. A strong resume concisely educates employers on an applicant’s skills, achievements, and experiences. In this workshop, One Gen delivers an in-depth, strategic approach to building a resume that allows students to understand the role their resumes play in the hiring process. Throughout the workshop, One Gen provides the tools and tips necessary to build an intriguing and distinctive resume.

Week 2 - Networking Workshop

No successful person has ever achieved anything on their own. They have all had robust networks loaded with invaluable mentors and connections. One Gen’s networking workshop strives to help students master the art of networking and it’s diverse approaches. The workshop teaches students how to navigate the process of building an expansive and powerful professional network. Students will build their networking toolkit and practice using those tools to maximally utilize their resources. By the end of the workshop, students will know how to build their networks, and how to navigate them for any given opportunity. Through proactive activities, students will gain confidence interacting among professionals, develop professional etiquette skills, and learn the communication skills necessary to develop vital personal and professional relationships.

Week 3 - Interview Workshop

A well-crafted resume and robust network are only the first steps to entering the professional world. After developing the necessary skills to obtain an interview, One Gen guides students through the interview process. Throughout the interviewing workshop, One Gen will introduce students to the art and science of interviewing. For example, students will learn necessary pre-interview tactics and how to personalize their responses to real interview questions, and they will understand proper interview attire, presentation, and post-interview follow-up.

Week 4 - Financial Management Workshop

One Gen’s final workshop introduces students to the financial literacy skills most young adults lack. The workshop educates students on spending habits, budgeting, and basic investing. Through a series of practical spending and investing activities, students will learn to manage and handle large and small amounts of money, allowing them to observe and analyze the impact of their financial decisions. By the end of the workshop, students will have learned the importance of money management and how money can be a benefit and, at times, a detriment to any professional.
